Many years ago, when much less was known of HIV, and in a different workplace... Co-worker was good buddies with me, and then suddenly would have nothing to do with me. A different co told me later that the other had seen me take insulin before eating lunch. As near as we could figure, the semi-logic progression was: Diabetes=insulin=needles=AIDS=anything I touched would transfer it.
