So, I decided many moons ago (back in my early teens, really) that someday, when I'm old and grey, I'm going to be the old herb-woman at the edge of the woods by the river with her herbal teas and tinctures and what-not. Mostly I gave up on that years ago now, but once in a while I remember that I kinda still want to be her in some small way.
It's nice to know (in the face of a horrendous caddis-fly infestation last night and subsequent failure to find fly-tape this afternoon) that some part of me already is. Dredging through my memory for "Herbal Ways To Uninvite Unwanted Household Pests", I stopped by Earthward for a few ( things ), which were duly crushed and mixed in a jar, then tied into little sachets for deposit at strategic locations (Mighty_1, if you find a random odd-smelling blue bundle loitering around, it is in fact, pest control, not some new cat toy, and it's supposed to be in the window-sill. ;) ).
Tonight? No caddis-flies at all upstairs where the bundles are. A few downstairs, but not a single one in sight on the second floor.
Somewhere, a white-haired old woman is smiling while she stands at her table grinding herbs...
