(no subject)

Did a little experimenting with the new cross-posting thing (as I have two LJ accounts).

1.) You can't accidentally cross-post. You have to enable the feature and link it to one of the accounts.

2.) You can't cross-post locked entries.

3.) If you cross-post a comment that is in a locked entry, it does post a link to LJ, HOWEVER, it does not allow you to even see the username of the account, but tells you that you must be logged in to see it.

4.) Even if you are logged in, you still can't see it unless you are on the user's friends list, and it still does not show the username.

5.) You will ONLY see the comment that you made in the entry, but as stated above, there is only a link to LJ's main page, nothing more.

As such, there really isn't so much of a privacy violation going on here at all. Everyone BREATHE ALREADY!!!

That's been changed since last night then, as someone demonstrated that it was in fact possible at that point.

Livejournal tends to be very good about listening to their users, when people take the time to inform them if they don't like something. My guess is that a number of people checked it and informed them.

Rather a lot of them, and quite loudly.

Yup. And unlike FB or Twitter, LJ's staff actually does listen to their users. It's one of the reasons I stay.

Thank you for testing. I feel better now.

I tend to like to check things like that, since people are very prone to mass hysteria. ;) (And since I have a small privacy requirement between my LJ and FB, I figured investigating it as soon as I got a chance was a Good Idea (tm))

thanks for testing. do you mind if I add a link to your post in my lj?

As I pointed out on Facebook, I can see the username, but that's the only thing I've found that contradicts your evidence.
