If you could tell your 16-year old self anything, what would it be?

For myself, I'd tell myself to shove my pride under the rug and accept Uncle Tom's offer to talk to his friend, the dean of a college, and get me in...

Don't go straight to college. Take a year off from school after you graduate high school and volunteer with kids or something.

"Here is a list of the winning lotto numbers for the next 20 years."

Then he could do anything he wanted.

Dear Gonzo, from Gonzo

Tell him what?

He's 16 year old Me, and right now I'm 36. With a mortgage on the house we live in, another on the house we plan to live in, a kid, a wife, a minivan, dogs, and short hair. I am "the Man".

He wouldn't listen to a damned thing I had to say.

You're not as heavy as you think you are. You look kinda awesome, actually.

Heh, I like the lotto idea...

Other than that, "Yes, you have ADD. Don't use it as an excuse, just learn to deal with it and get stuff done. High school will let you slide, but college will just dump you on your ass."

I've noticed that before. Seeing old pictures and how thin you were and remembering how bad you thought you were. Course I come from the time of Ziggy, Iggy and Twiggy, so perceptions were a wee bit skewed then.

Love counts; hold on hard to what you do love, and don't accept half measures.
